Menu Work - Digitally Simulated Chalkboard Art

A restaurant in Sparta NJ is reopening with new ownership and I was hired to create a 7.5 foot wide menu for their location. I worked with a supplier to produce the printed design on vinyl so that the restaurant owners could easily install the new menu over the old one which was framed.

The owner gave me the list of menu items with the request of many fun illustrations and to include her logo. I designed this with a combination of Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.

As you can see, I designed it with photorealistic chalk effects, a process I used to use regularly for my line of custom chalkboard art designs that were once available on my store. (I discontinued the line due to the time constraints of being a full-time college student.)

Above is the logo recreated in chalk form, which I worked closely with the owner to perfect; the nature of chalk can be limiting.

I loved adding the accents of color which is not usually something I get to do in chalkboard designs. Overall I'm very happy with this design; I'm excited to see the end-product in-store, and will be adding photos when it is up.
